What is CDP???
- Cassette Discipleship Program
– a grass roots evangelistic tool – villager reaching villager.
- Villagers
become Village Evangelists (VEs) – ever reaching out! With cassette
messages and witness.
- Trained (non-literate) villagers (VEs) reach out
to their peers! – Truly villagers reaching villagers!
- Structured
dialog cassette messages are used for Outreach and Training, and
confirming scriptures.
- Outreach to the lost and added training for the VE
– see the “Cassette Messages”.
- CDP leadership handles the translation, VE
training and placement. – seeking to blanket all areas!
- Each VE
reaches out to about 10,000 villagers – establishing home worship
centers and churches.
- This
includes about 6,000 children! – DVBS methods are used – hearts are
changed!
- Fathers, mothers, and children come to Jesus –
lives changed! – Now purposeful. – Now secure!
- Communities are strengthened – scores, hundreds,
thousands impacted – New Creatures in Christ!
- The Task in India requires almost 80,000 VEs (to
reach out to 800 Million villagers) – Costing $12M.
- The Task in Africa is nearly the same – in 59
Countries – currently 18 countries now in CDP.
- The VEs
are born again villagers that love Jesus and volunteer to serve Him! –
reaching 10 villages.
- The four Message Cassettes and Scripture Portions
(which they translate) are on our WEBSITE.
- Each VE is
in an Outpost of 10-20 VEs – they are accountable – to God’s word and
CDP leadership.
- In general, there are about 20 Outposts for each
language/state demographic unit.
- Generally establish one Outpost in each language
area – seeking to multiply Outposts to blanket area!
- CDP can
apply in any “village oriented” country if literacy is a major problem –
need oral methods.
The key steps necessary
to establish a healthy CDP
It appears to us that the following basic CDP tasks completion are
first order business (some of these tasks can be done at the same time of
course):
1. Establish detail village requirements (include specific total to
be reached),
2. An Outpost map versus languages for total task (
*
Tier 1s, with 20 VEs per Outpost per
language) -- this takes careful and diligent screening and evaluation.
Soon in time, start a Tier 1 for each language. It is highly desired to
get Tier 1s for each language before going much further with the earlier
Tiers. Efficiency of VE and equipment use is a factor here—yet, with the
plan to get all villagers reached
3. Establish the desired calendar dates to accomplish each Outpost,
each Tier.
4. Translate the four CDP script messages from the WEBSITE into the
language to be reached with each Tier 1 set of 20 VEs.
5. Record the translated dialog scripts to master tape for each
language.
6. Prepare first batch of cassette tapes—four each per VE.
7. Translate or use available Language Bible tapes to establish
Scripture
Portions per WEBSITE selected scriptures (for up to 17 cassettes
per VE).
8. Select and train 20 VEs per Outpost to be established—include
3-to-1 “on the job training” for growth of Outreach.
9. Deploy VEs per plan of 1 though 3 above.
10. Establish 3-to-1 “on the job training” with VEs.
11. Establish regular reporting and training schedule for VEs and
supervisors.
12. Prepare for next Tier level of Outposts (generally 3 times last
Tier’s quantity).
13. Repeat items 2 through 13 until enough Outposts/VEs are deployed
to reach all villagers of the country (note: this should be in less than
six years as equipments are available.
* The Tiers Legend: Each country grows to the needed Tier
level - the last level truncated as necessary:-
Tier 1 --- One Outpost: 20
VEs (to reach out to 200,000 villagers)
Tier 2 --- Four Outposts: 60 new, 80 total VEs (to
reach out to 800,000 villagers)
Tier 3 --- 16 Outposts:
240 new, 320 total VEs (to reach out to 3.2 Million villagers)
Tier 4 --- 64 Outposts: 960
new, 1,280 total VEs (to reach out to 12.8 Million villagers)
Tier 5 --- 256 Outposts:
3,840 new, 5,120 total VEs (to reach out to 51.2 Million villagers)
Tier 6 --- 1024 Outposts:
15,360 new, 20,480 total VEs to reach out to 302.8 Million villagers)
CDP
Evangelist’s Initiatory Training Course.
A three full day training course is designed to
achieve the following objectives:
- To provide a period of spiritual preparation
to the newly selected evangelists before they are sent to the
harvest fields.
- To inform them about the Biblical imperatives
to qualify for the work of an evangelist.
- To evaluate every evangelist - his/her goals,
attitudes, aptitude for work, talents, planning skills, time
consciousness, etc.
- To inform the requirements on the handling of
equipment and accessories provided.
- To inculcate the uttermost standards of
stewardship of time and talents.
The PROGRAM is so designed to emphasize the
need for personal daily devotions, corporate worship, Bible study and
physical health and hygiene. Ten 90 minutes sessions cover a set
curriculum and syllabus of studies. The timetable is kept tight to keep
the VEs on their toes. Every effort is made to bring home the
importance of the value and of management of time in their daily routine
once they go to the fields with harvest as the focus. The faculty
members shall provide the notes of their lectures for students to carry
home. They should also provide them with relevant reading materials to
inculcate in them the habit of adding knowledge to their faith.
The following is the content of the program:
- Bible Study: The study should cover the
details of our Lord’s GREAT COMMISSION (Matt. 23:18-20). For this,
either the first 8 chapters of the Acts of Apostles or any other
portion or book of the New Testament is chosen and Studied in its
entirety.
- Session I: Evangelism Explained:
Effective proclamation of the Gospel; reaching the unreached;
people-wise evangelism; encouraging men and women to accept Christ
and make them disciples; transforming new Christians into
responsible members of the Church.
- Session II: Who is an Evangelist:
Biblical standards for evangelists- qualities and qualifications;
stewardship of time, talents and treasure; aspects of discipleship.
- Session III: Life- style of an Evangelist:
Effective Christian witness and life: How to be an example to new
believers and others? The use of words in Christian life-style.
- Session IV; V; & VI: Audio Cassettes &
Evangelism: Special features; personal and group evangelism
through audiocassettes; CDP cassettes played and discussed.
- Session VII: Methods of Bible study:
Importance of personal daily Bible study; conducting Bible study
sessions; 12 methods of Bible study.
- Session VIII: Gospel Preaching: “Preach
the Word”- How to prepare a sermon.
- Session IX: Ministry of Healing and the
Evangelist: An overview of health and hygiene from Biblical and
scientific points of view; the importance of prayer therapy.
- Session X: Dedication of the
Evangelists and commissioning them to do CDP Ministry.
It is necessary that the faculty members and
supervisors of the training course meet every night to evaluate the
effectiveness of the day’s programme and find remedies wherever
improvements need to be effected. They should also evaluate the
participants every day and offer help, guidance and counseling to
individual cases who need them.
The importance of physical fitness needs to be
stressed by explaining the meaning of Luke 2:52. Practical physical
fitness programme may be demonstrated by a committed Christian physical
education instructor at the evening time allotted for the purpose.
Jesus trained His disciples for multiplication of
disciples. Let us follow His footsteps and train our CDP evangelists to
produce disciples for the Lord in their fields of activity.
