Setting Up Sampson G-Track
1) Plug in USB into the
microphone and into the computer.
2) Open Adobe Audition
3) Click the Input arrow
on “track 1”.
4) Open “Audio Hardware
Setup…”
5) Click “Control Panel”
button.
6) Check by clicking on
the Input and Output “USB audio CODEC”- 2 checks total.
7) Click ok.
8) On the Audio Hardware
Setup view, at the bottom – check the “Default input” as
Audio codec 1, and the “Default output”. Then click ok.
9) On Adobe Audition main
page, click the input and set to “USB Audio codec 1”.
Voice /
Tape Recording
1) Plug in USB cable into
the Sampson G-Track unit.
2) Open Adobe Audition.
3) Verify “Multitrack”
mode is selected on the top left of screen, or press “9”
on key board.
4) Verify the Input under
“track 1” – Left side (arrow pointing to the right) is
on [03M] USB Audio Codec -1
To add a second
microphone/instrument, left click on “track 2” Input
arrow on the right side of the text, choose “Mono”
select [04M] USB Codec – 1. Ensure that the cables are
fully pressed into the unit.
5) Verify the Output
(arrow pointing to the left) is on [01S] C-Media Wave
Device – 1 (This is the output of the computer at the
school. Each computer will be different.)
If not, click on the
arrow on the right side of box.
click on “Audio
Hardware Setup” and verify the input and output
ports.
Click on
“Control Panel” in that menu and make sure your
device is selected with a check in the box.
If that still
doesn’t show what you need, go to “Options” on
top tool bar.
Click on “Windows Recording Mixer”
and look there.
If that still
doesn’t work try closing Audition and restarting
it.
If that doesn’t
work go to “Control Panel” > Add Devices, verify
that the USB Audio device is working.
If that doesn’t
work, reboot the computer with all audio
hardware plugged in.
Default Session
on new computers. Once you have the inputs and
outputs set, go to “File” > Default Session >
Set current session as default.
6) Left Click the red “R”
(on top of track, next to track name – Track 1), to “Arm
for Record” your selected track. The “R” will turn from
dull to bright Red.
> A “Save Session As” box
appears.
Type the name of the
session you want to record in the “File Name” box.
For example “Karen
teaching August 2, 2008”
Left Click the “Save”
button
7) To
Record
– Press the red circle button on the bottom left.
Ensure that there is a
good size waveform on the computer. If too low, increase
the “Mic” level on the Sampson unit. The peaks (tips) of
the wave should not touch the edges of the boundary.
Average peaks should be 60-75% of the area.
9) To
stop recording
– press the space bar on the computer, or the stop
(square) button.
10) To
monitor
(listen to yourself) click
the “output” arrow pointing left
>Change to [01S] Realtek
AC97 Audio – 1
This changes the sound
from the headphones to the computer speakers. If you
want to use headphones, keep on [02S] USB Audio Codec
-1.
*Ensure the Red R box is
checked off while monitoring or else background noise
will come through the mic and you will hear both.
SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!
1) Press CTRL S at the
same time.
or
2) Left Click “File”
“Save Session”
You have now successfully
recorded, please go to Computer Audio Editing
instructions.
