Dear Outreacher: · We have seen added visibility for the Cassette Discipleship Program (CDP) both here on the West Coast as well as in Jackson, Mississippi. Also, our Eastern Rep: Mr. George Bell, also, has several independent projects working towards added significant potential visibility. · With Pastor Prince Paul Konu of CDP-Ghana, here to speak at our Annual Report Dinner this past 29h of September, we have also had great opportunities to review CDP-Ghana’s amazing Operation and Outreach to millions in Ghana. We want to also note here, -- Pastor Paul is playing a key mentoring role in the formation of CDP in Togo, which shares a border with Ghana. Togo leadership, with Pastor Paul helping, will be able to use the Ghana translations and recordings, where they also share the EWE language! More on this as it develops. · As Pastor Paul and I reviewed the CDP-Ghana activities, we came across a truly remarkable fact. We noted that new area’s first year outreach was 12-times more effective with bicycles than just “foot soldiers” having an audio player. It was also noted that bicycle outreach to second year coverage still had a 6-times improvement for souls brought to Jesus in true conversions and regular follow-up. · Note: The incredible multiplying effect, when bicycles are also used, puts heavy pressure on us to get the bicycles to the VEs at as early a date as possible. · Our provision of bicycles should now at least pace the availability of AMBASSADOR Units! · Each VE has the responsibility to reach out to all their villagers in their village and nine other villages around their village (variously about 10,000 Villagers). ****************************************** Reports from CDP-Kenya, CDP-Liberia and CDP-Nigeria
CDP-Kenya: We were able to send 100 added AMBASSADOR Players to Kenya – our brother Evan. Joel Atuti has responded with joy -- truly grateful for these powerful outreach tools! They will let us know of their progress with these new outreach multipliers. One of their VEs didn’t have a bike, so he borrowed one so as to see how much more outreach it would provide. He was ecstatic when he was able to get to a very remote area and witness to 150 Villagers – with 60 of them coming to the Lord Jesus Christ in earnest conversions. We felt that his “squeaky wheel” research deserved added attention! – We sent funds for him to have his own bicycle, asking that he keep a log of it’s uses and outreach results.
CDP-Liberia: Evan. J. Aaron Wright notes that CDP-Liberia is making great inroads to the villages of Liberia – to the extent that it is “amazing to the Christian Community, with Pastors and even government officials calling to have us extend our CDP activities within their respective counties within Liberia. Evan. Wright notes that their camera was broken in an attack by the enemy – they now need to replace it so as to be able to meet our needs for key pictures of their ongoing activities. The replacement cost is right at $380.00. He notes that the Bong County work is now progressing nicely with the addition of the last AMBASSADOR Units! The need for bicycles is always noted – where without them the distances are prohibitive and definitely limit the effectiveness of heir whole operation.
CDP-Nigeria: Evan. Paul Mba thanked us profusely for the AMBASSADOR Units sent to him via MegaVoice – adding joy and responsibility to their outreach. Souls are added daily here trough the use of the AMBASSADOR Units. We have a lot of candidates for baptism waiting in our various outposts. He wrote: “Dearly beloved, we are quite aware of the sacrifice you have made towards soul winning in our nation and other nations of the world, yet we are compelled by the volume of the work here in the Northern part of this country and beyond to make this passionate appeal for further support to enable us to key into this your good word. – We and the VEs are ready and willing to do the work, but we lack the necessary funds – really, programmatic overhead funds.” NOTE: we have just sent Evan. MBA $300.00 to help with same of these overhead costs. This is an area of funding that we really desire to help more with; – generally each country meets most of their overhead costs from local sources.
CDP-Ghana: With Pastor Prince Paul Konu here with us for several weeks, we have had another opportunity to tap his brain and thinking – allowing us to improve our information and better able to relay it to you. Below is a summary of the Ghana CDP – stated as a case study, from CDP concept to today: ****************************************** A Case Study -------- Circa 2001 – 2008 -------- Cassette Discipleship Program (CDP) In Ghana, Africa CDP-Ghana J. R. Jim Ford, President of M/E International, and Pastor Prince Paul Konu of CDP-Ghana WEBSITE: me-intl.org Tel: 714-624-3547 Historically, the Cassette Discipleship Program (CDP) was developed/matured in India for 20 years, after the Lord gave us the concept while we were flying from Bombay to Bangalore, in 1984. We had been meditating about the change underway and had felt a bit “down”, asking Him “How can we reach out to the multiplying millions of villagers, and at that moment our Father-God gave us this concept, for villagers to reach out to villagers, in their own and nearby villages. In the early process of establishing CDP, the WEBSITE: me-intl.org was developed as the main plenum of readily available CDP information for all CDP personnel World-wide. This, together with the power and universality of the Internet to provide both individual and mass communications with all related participants, has allowed just a few staff people to effectively provide coordination and leadership for this growing network of National Leaders and associated Village Evangelists (VEs). Where the India activities had included providing monthly gifts of $20.00 to the VEs, this practice was shunned by the Ghana leadership, desiring that they all be VOLUNTEERS – working for the Lord! This has proved to be a very wise and necessary decision when the growth of CDP extended to some 186 countries by early 2004. This also perfectly fit with our established M/E International commitment to volunteerism! Within the Volunteerism role, M/E EMPOWERS the national leadership to be Autonomous – and ENABLES the VEs with equipments (audio players to bridge the literacy problem, and bicycles to bridge the distance obstacles) AS THE LORD PROVIDES FUNDING TO US! CDP-Ghana, upon completing the necessary prerequisite tasks per the WEBSITE: (1) Established a dynamic Steering Committee, (2) Completed a demographic study displaying the location and quantities of each language group in Ghana, (3) Located and trained 20 VEs for the first Outpost to be deployed, and (4) Initiated translation of the cassette messages form the WEBSITE into the needed heart languages. All these tasks typically take between 6 to 12 months to complete. Pastor Paul Konu, the lead coordinator for CDP-Ghana, was able to have their recording done by Global Recordings in Ghana; GR has proven to be great partners in that and many other areas! CDP-Ghana started ministry with four VEs – these having three candidate VEs working with them in a dynamic “on the job” training role. This training process was the brain child of Pastor Paul Konu – it is now used by all countries and language groups! By September 2003 AD, they had 20 VEs ministering and we had been able to provide them with Hand-cranked Cassette Players and bikes. A verification trip to Ghana would encourage Pastor Paul, his leaders and VEs. Interestingly, by this time, CDP-Liberia, CDP-Nigeria, C DP-Kenya and CDP-Cameroon were just getting started. So, seizing this opportunity, we invited all these to meet our representative, Dr. .James Butare, there in Ghana late in 2003 AD. CDP-Ghana had progressed very well and proved to be a great model for the others, actually convincing our CDP-Cameroon leaders that indeed CDP was “real” and it provided a natural outlet for over 400 evangelists and pastors that they had been training in their institute – these being in all of the African countries as well as in many countries of the World. Within a few months we had over 110 new countries in the CDP family! – This actually grew rapidly to over 185 as they shared with friends in other countries. CDP-Ghana continued to grow – soon reaching the 80 VE level, then the 320 level in the EWE language, with the TWI language also growing and later the FRAFRA language, where VEs in the north were able to use Bibles since they were more advanced in literacy. Significantly, for just the year 2007 AD, Pastor Prince Paul Konu reported that conversions in just the EWE language group exceeded 300,000 – this from the baseline of 320 players and 80 bikes. Now, nearing the end of 2008 AD (September), we have reports from each language group, although Pastor Paul indicates that the TWI group is more difficult to get good data. However, the interim reports received indicate that the conversions for the EWE are right at 26,100, while those from the TWI language group is noted at 18,210. Pastor Paul notes that the TWI group is much less responsive and does not have the bike-mobility of the EWE group, which is certainly evident from the above data. It turns out that the most difference in the conversion rate is evidently related to the EWE groups having 80 bikes, while the others have no bikes!! This gives us a better idea as to the importance of the bikes in this overall process. Of course, this result is a complex sum of many inputs which relate to travel time, dwell time for ministry, and VE fatigue. Note here that even the EWE group only had 80 bikes (shared by 320 VEs), so, if all had bikes, Pastor Paul says the results could be four times those obtained. WOW!!! – That gets the number right up to the 40% which Pastor Paul has found typically true for each VE. Bottom line, it appears that the bikes help secure over 40 times the results of “foot soldiers”. YES – the harvesters are in place – they need the tools of harvest! Typically each VE requires equipment and Programmatic support totaling $250.00 (once only) – this amortizes into equipment, Media-Center portions, Recording costs, and verification trips. The audio player of choice is now the AMBASSADOR Unit, by MegaVoice of Israel, which costs right at $50.00 including selected messages, shipping, and import duties! The bikes typically cost $100.00, and are available in most countries. The NATIONS being reached!! See Matthew 24:14: it is the CHURCH that preaches – the end of preaching will be – the RAPTURE ****************************************** Credit Card Donations -- To allow “plastic” to become part of our financial genre in the near future, we will accommodate for those that are “paper and check” free -- broadening our WEBSITE: me-intl.org to accommodate for Credit Cards (CC) in a secure environment.
